Becoming an Activist

So I have started something REALLY BIG! Let me explain what has been going through my mind the past few days.....

A few days ago I watched the documentary "The Cove." What I saw was not only inhumane, but hurtful to see the way that human beings could care less for animals and humans. The movie is about the fisheries in Taiji, Japan. There is one specific one called The Cove that slaughters 23,000 small marine mammals within a 6 month time span. The reason they kill these poor innocent creatures is absolutely bogus! It's quite simple in their eyes...Trainers come to pick out of the 100's of dolphins they catch a day, to pick the ones they seem fit to be hauled off to places such as Seaworld. The ones that don't make the cut get pushed into a little cove where each and every one is slughtered by shoving spears through their spine. The ones that are killed are gathered and sold as meat for humans to eat. However, most people don't know that dolphin meat is so high in mercury that it is toxic! Much of it is packaged as "whale meat" and sold to poison individuals. And even worse, Japanese leaders are wanting to circulate dolphin meat into childrens school lunches! It maks me absolutely sick! How can people have such disregard for other human's lives???? The reason that this is able to go on is because small whales and dolphins are not protected under the International Whaling Commission.

So, I have decided to do my small part and start a petition to try to get these helpless small marine mammals protected by the IWC. I am going to be adding a widget that you can click on that will take you directly to my petition site where you can sign it. I need everyone's help!!! I alone am only one small voice in the crowd.
